Pregnant Heidi Klum turns heads at Emmy red carpet

Pregnant Heidi Klum turns heads at Emmy red carpet

The Associated Press
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The firefighters working the red carpet at Sunday's 61st annual Emmy Awards were worried that at least one reality TV star might be going home with more than just a trophy.

"Hey, did you see Heidi Klum? She's like 8 months pregnant. So you be ready, you might have to deliver," fire Inspector Jim Fisher said to his colleague Craig Hancock as they and other authorities hustled Emmy VIPs into the Nokia Theatre.

A bystander asked Fisher if he knew what Klum, the host of "Project Runway," was wearing.

"Don"t ask a guy wearing polyester that kind of question," replied Fisher, dressed in a white uniform shirt and fire-resistant gray pants.

"What about me? This is wool," piped up Sgt. Pete Foster, who was wearing a wool shirt.

The Emmy trophy table has moved up in the world.

The offstage stop containing dozens of real Emmys, not the fake ones recipients are handed onstage, used to be located in a nondescript section of a parking garage. This year it's in an air-conditioned, red-carpeted section of the Nokia Theatre roof.

Emmy winners exit the theater through a back door, then head for the table, where they trade in their generic trophy for one of the real ones. A nameplate with their name and the category in which they were honored will arrive in the mail later.

Helping newborn babies with often-misunderstood viral infections and other infectious diseases

May 6th WPIX morning news interviewed Andrew Rabinowitz founder of R babyfoundation.org. He told the story of his daughter’s death and how it could have been avoided (full story below). His daughter had a viral infection which had it been diagnosed she would have probably survived. It is important that parents realize how necessary it is that in an emergency situation they take the child to a hospital where a pediatric doctor is present day and night. New parents should speak to their pediatrician about this.

Their Story

Our daughter Rebecca was born four weeks early on July 13, 2006. We loved her from the moment of birth and savored every hour with her. She was released from the NICU five days later, supposedly as a healthy baby girl. The next day, Rebecca was severely congested with thick mucus, continuing her slow feedings, and had difficulty breathing.

We took her to the pediatrician and the hospital emergency room during each of the following days we had her. Doctors diagnosed her symptoms as a common cold, and she was repeatedly sent home. Unfortunately, Rebecca passed away on the morning of July 21. We later found out that she had contracted a common enteroviral infection.

Had her symptoms been treated, she may still be here today. As a result of this tragedy with Rebecca, we created the R Baby Foundation. This charity is dedicated to helping newborn babies, primarily those less than a month old suffering from viral infections and other infectious diseases, receive the highest quality of care and service through supporting education, research, training and life-saving equipment.

Gender Predictor

Got boys, and want a baby girl to complete your family? Or want a baby boy to carry on the family name, or give dad someone to play catch with? No matter why or which gender you would prefer, you can raise the odds of having a baby of the gender of your choice to over 94%!

How? By implementing three simple, all natural steps you too could enjoy the thrill of having the baby you've dreamed of. The late Dr Landrum B Shettles an expert on human conception developed these steps to take advantage of differences he found in the human reproductive processes. What are these differences, and how do they affect baby gender prediction? Lets start with:

PH And How It Affects Gender At Conception

Lets start with the fact that the man's sperm comes in two verities (y) "boy" sperm and (x) "girl sperm, and it's his sperm determines the sex of the baby at conception. The woman's egg is (xx) or all girl. The two sperm are very different physically, with the girl sperm being larger, slower, and hardier/longer lived, than the smaller, faster, and weaker/dies quicker, boy sperm.

The mother-to-be can create a more acidic bodily ph if she wants a girl baby (the boy sperm won't survive in a acidic environment), and a more alkaline reproductive ph if she is wanting a baby boy. This can usually be accomplished by eating the proper foods and supplements for several weeks before trying to conceive. Or by douching, although with the possibility of infection I would recommend using douching to achieve the correct ph only under your doctors care.

Timing Of Sex To Conceive A Baby Boy Or Girl

If you want a baby girl have sex as often as you like but abstain from sex three days before ovulation until three days after ovulation. This, along with a more acidic reproductive environment will increase the chance of conceiving a girl, because of the time involved and the hostile environment the boy sperm will die off before getting a chance to fertilize the egg, resulting in a baby girl.

If wanting a baby boy, abstain from sex until within 24 hrs before ovulation and than abstain again 12 hrs after ovulation. A more alkaline reproductive environment along with the timing will help ensure the boy sperm out-swim the slower girl sperm and fertilize the egg, resulting in a boy baby.

Sexual Position Is Also Important As A Gender Predictor

If wanting a baby boy have sex in positions that allow deep penetration, as this will deposit the sperm closer to the waiting egg and give the boy sperm a short fast trip (that they should win!) You might try "doggie style" or the missionary position, but with the woman's legs pushed up by her head.

If you desire a baby girl practice very shallow penetration to give the boy sperm a long difficult journey that they (hopefully) won't survive, allowing the girl sperm to do the deed.

Is Life Too Fast For Your Baby?

Let’s face it, no matter how hard we attempt to slow down our lives, they are fast paced. Meetings, deadlines, schedules…and if you stay at home with your child, you may feel pressured to “get it all done” during the day – and that includes going to the park, driving the older kids to lessons, grocery shopping…

There’s simply a lot going on, most of the time.

It’s normal for babies to protest a fast pace. How often have we experienced a screaming infant in the grocery store or on an airplane? And I’m sure we all know babies who HATE the car seat.

What you may not realize is that if the pace is fast for us…it is light speed for a baby. And that the transition from one activity or location to another can be upsetting for them.

Your baby’s brain doesn’t process information at the same rate that you do, so when you are moving through your life, and taking your baby along with you, she is experiencing a bombardment of sensory input, and may become disoriented.

Think of it this way…lets say you are in a foreign country, and don’t understand the customs or language at all. You know your friend you are visiting, but most other people are strangers. Let’s say your friend, either says something super fast in this foreign language, or doesn’t say anything at all, suddenly takes you by the arm, and gently ushers you into the downtown streets and goes about her errands with you in tow – but with no explanation or time for you to “catch up” with what’s happening. You go from place to place, and as time goes on, you probably become more and more resistant and try to get her to slow down…but what if she doesn’t?

A little overwhelming?

Yeah…welcome to your baby’s world.

Transitions occur several times a day. Anytime you move your baby from one place to another, or change the activity – like if you are playing with her on the floor but suddenly go to answer the phone…to your baby, that can be startling.

For some babies, transitions are bigger than the event itself. What was the biggest transition your baby ever experienced? You got it…his birth. The ultimate transition. How did that go? Consider that how your baby transitioned into the world is also how he perceives all transitions. Without going into a judgment of “bad” or “good” think of what it might have been like for him…was it a long struggle? Scary? Connected? Too much too fast? Out of control? Someone else’s timing? Painful? Smooth?

Your baby may be remembering or reacting to body memories of his birth with each transition he experiences.

Next time you transition from one thing to another, go more slowly and talk to your baby about it…be aware that it might be a bigger deal to her than to you, and see if you can be present for that with empathy.
